Quetta : A powerful explosion occurred on Sunday night near the Agricultural College on Sariab Road, one of the busiest areas in Quetta, followed by an armed attack on a security forces checkpost. According to security sources, the blast was heard across nearby areas, spreading panic among residents.

Initial reports indicate that the attackers used a hand grenade, resulting in the death of a passerby on the spot, while five others were injured. Three of the injured are reported to be in critical condition. Rescue 1122, Chhipa, and other emergency teams promptly reached the scene and shifted the injured to nearby hospitals.

Following the explosion, security forces cordoned off the area and launched a counter-operation. An exchange of fire between the attackers and security personnel continued for some time, while additional forces were called in. Entry and exit routes around Sariab Road were temporarily sealed.

Sources stated that the intensity of the blast shattered windows of nearby buildings and caused widespread fear among locals. Authorities have not yet released an official statement regarding the number or identity of the attackers.

The incident comes at a time when security forces are conducting ongoing operations to improve law and order in Balochistan. Sariab Road has witnessed multiple such incidents in recent years, often targeting both civilians and security personnel.
