At least 40 people were injured in a hand grenade attack at Jamat e Islami’s Kashmir rally in Karachi on Wednesday evening. A cracker bomb exploded during Jamat e Islami (JI) rally in support of oppressed Kashmiris, police said. Rescue officials said miscreants on a motorcycle lobbed a hand grenade at the participants of the rally. The attackers managed to escape unhurt from the spot.

The injured have been rushed to nearby hospitals for medical treatment. It was not immediately known how many injured were in serious condition, Meeran Yousaf, Sindh government’s health spokesman stated. Police were quick at the scene as an investigation into the terror attack was launched.

JI Chief, Siraj ul Haq in a tweet strongly condemned the terror attack and said this proves that Indian spy agency RAW’s agent was present in the megacity of the country.

The blast happened in Gulshan e Iqbal Baitul Mukaram Masjid.
