QUETTA: Two women were injured after a vehicle belonging to the squad of the Additional Chief Secretary (Development) Balochistan allegedly hit them near B.A. Mall in Quetta, triggering outrage on social media as videos of the incident circulated widely online.

According to an official statement issued by the government, the accident involved a squad vehicle assigned to the Additional Chief Secretary (Development). Officials claimed the security staff immediately shifted the injured women to the Trauma Center where they were provided emergency medical treatment before being moved to ARIA Hospital for further care.

The statement said CT scans, X-rays and other medical examinations confirmed that both women suffered minor fractures, while no serious head injuries or life-threatening complications were reported. Authorities described the condition of both patients as stable and satisfactory.

Government officials further stated that the affected family submitted written consent indicating they did not wish to pursue legal action, terming the incident an unintentional accident.

The incident, however, sparked strong reactions after videos showing the aftermath of the accident spread across social media platforms, with many users questioning the conduct and movement of official protocol vehicles in busy public areas.

In its statement, the government also criticized what it described as “misleading and unverified information” being shared by some individuals and media outlets, urging the public to rely only on confirmed reports.

Officials said medical assistance and support for the injured women and their families were continuing.
