QUETTA, Pakistan — In the aftermath of the devastating explosion near Chaman Phatak, the Deputy Commissioner Quetta, who also chairs the District Compensation Committee, has formally constituted a special damage assessment committee to evaluate financial losses caused by the May 24, 2026 bomb blast.
According to an official statement issued by the district administration, the committee has been directed to immediately begin its work by visiting the affected locality and carrying out a detailed survey of the destruction. The assessment will focus on damages to homes, shops, commercial establishments, vehicles, and other public and private properties impacted by the explosion.
The initiative aims to ensure a transparent, fair, and comprehensive evaluation process, allowing authorities to accurately determine the scale of losses suffered by residents and business owners.
Multi-Department Committee Formed
As outlined in the official notification, the Assistant Commissioner City Quetta has been appointed to lead the committee. The body also includes representatives from several departments to ensure a technically sound and impartial assessment.
Committee members include officials from the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) Quetta, the Communication and Works Department, the Metropolitan Corporation Quetta, and the Agricultural Engineering Department.
Authorities said the inclusion of specialists from different sectors is intended to provide a complete and credible estimate of the destruction, ensuring that every category of damage is documented properly.
Detailed Report to Shape Relief and Compensation
Officials stated that the committee will conduct a comprehensive on-ground inspection of the blast site and compile separate records of damaged vehicles, affected businesses, residential properties, and other financial losses.
Once completed, the findings will be submitted to the Deputy Commissioner Quetta to support decisions regarding government assistance, compensation packages, and future rehabilitation efforts for victims.

The powerful blast near Chaman Phatak reportedly left multiple vehicles destroyed and caused significant structural damage to nearby buildings, shops, and surrounding properties.
