KOHLU, Pakistan: A third earthquake shook Balochistan’s Kohlu district and nearby areas on the same day, adding to concerns after multiple tremors were recorded across the region on Friday.

According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), the latest earthquake struck at 4:49 p.m. with a magnitude of 5.1 on the Richter scale. The quake originated at a depth of 17 kilometres, while its epicentre was located approximately 60 kilometres northeast of Kohlu.

Earlier in the day, two separate earthquakes were recorded at 10:25 a.m. and 10:58 a.m., making it the third seismic event to affect the area within a matter of hours.

The tremors were felt not only in Kohlu but also in the neighbouring districts of Zhob, Barkhan, and Rakhni, causing concern among residents. However, authorities have not reported any casualties, injuries, or significant damage to property.

Pakistan lies along active tectonic fault lines, making several parts of the country, particularly Balochistan and northern regions, vulnerable to frequent seismic activity. Officials continue to monitor the situation, while residents have been advised to remain alert in case of possible aftershocks.
