Ali Hamza: The bodies of four men who had previously been reported missing were recovered from the Shaban area of Quetta on Tuesday, prompting authorities to launch an investigation into the circumstances surrounding their deaths.
According to police and security sources, the deceased have been provisionally identified as Airports Security Force (ASF) Inspector Zubair Ahmed Shahwani, former Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) Corporal Syed Khalil-ur-Rehman, retired Pakistan Army Havaldar Sadiq, and Police Constable Fareed, who was reportedly abducted from the Mangi Dam area.
The bodies were transported to a hospital for post-mortem examinations and other medico-legal formalities. Officials said the identification process is being completed through legal procedures before the remains are handed over to the victims’ families.
Sources said Inspector Zubair Ahmed Shahwani had been missing since June 21, when he left his residence in Killi Barat, Jinnah Town, along with his friend, former CTD Corporal Syed Khalil-ur-Rehman. The two had not been seen since, and security agencies had been conducting search efforts to trace them.
Police Constable Fareed had reportedly gone missing after an alleged abduction from the Mangi Dam area, while retired Havaldar Sadiq was also among the individuals whose whereabouts had remained unknown before the recovery.
Following the discovery, security personnel sealed off the area and began collecting forensic evidence. Investigators are examining multiple aspects of the case as part of an ongoing inquiry aimed at determining the cause of death and identifying those responsible.
Authorities have not yet issued an official statement on the incident. Further details are expected as the investigation progresses.
