MASTUNG:Â Four people were injured after unidentified gunmen opened fire on a Balochistan Education Department bus in Mastung district on Sunday, police said.
The attack took place in the Khad Kocha area on the Quetta-Karachi Highway, one of Balochistan’s busiest roads. According to police, the bus was travelling from Quetta to Panjgur when armed assailants opened fire, causing panic among passengers.
The injured have been identified as Zahoor Ahmad, Abdul Sattar, Naseer Hussain, and Tanveer Ahmad.
Soon after the shooting, the attackers fled the scene. Rescue officials and law enforcement personnel rushed to the area and shifted the injured to hospitals in Quetta, where they are receiving medical treatment.
Police have cordoned off the area and launched an investigation to determine the motive behind the attack. Officials said evidence is being collected, while efforts are underway to identify and arrest those responsible.
No group has claimed responsibility for the incident.
The latest attack adds to growing security concerns on highways across Balochistan, where government vehicles, passenger buses, and public transport have periodically come under attack. Authorities say security operations and investigations are continuing to ensure those involved are brought to justice.
