Quetta: Internet services were restored in Quetta and several parts of Balochistan on Saturday after remaining suspended for nearly 48 hours, bringing relief to thousands of residents who had been cut off from online communication.
The restoration allowed citizens to reconnect with family members, friends, colleagues and businesses after a prolonged disruption that affected routine communication and digital services. Many residents said they heaved a sigh of relief as mobile data and internet connectivity gradually returned.
Internet services had been suspended across Quetta and other parts of the province amid heightened security concerns and fears of possible threats. Authorities had taken the measure as a precautionary step to prevent the misuse of communication networks and maintain security.
The shutdown coincided with Pakistan’s 79th Independence Day celebrations on August 14, when national events were held across Quetta and other parts of the country with patriotic enthusiasm.
The prolonged disruption, however, created difficulties for students, journalists, businesses, online workers and families relying on digital communication.
With services now restored, residents have welcomed the return of connectivity and resumed normal communication after nearly two days of isolation from the digital world.
