Waseem Khan: A police constable was martyred and another injured when unidentified armed men opened fire on a police post in Kank area of Mastung district, police said.

The attack took place during the night when the assailants targeted the police post, killing Constable Izzatullah and injuring Constable Naseebullah.

Police personnel retaliated after the attack, forcing the assailants to flee the scene. The firing triggered panic among residents in the surrounding area.

Following the incident, a heavy contingent of police and security forces reached the area and cordoned it off to prevent further attacks and trace the attackers.

The body of the martyred constable and the injured policeman were shifted to a hospital. After completion of necessary legal formalities, the body was handed over to the family.

Police said further investigation into the attack was underway.
