News Desk: The Quetta Development Authority (QDA) has generated Rs36.59 million in immediate and first-year revenue through a transparent competitive bidding process for two public parks and the auction of three condemned government machinery items.
The QDA said the open bidding process was conducted to ensure transparency, fair competition, accountability and better utilization of public assets.
The bidding for Abdul Razzaq Dotani Park in Satellite Town significantly exceeded the authority’s base rate. Against an annual base rate of Rs8 million, the final bid reached Rs23.2 million, marking an increase of 190 percent.
The park has been leased for three years, with a contractual 10 percent annual increase. Based on the agreed terms, the QDA expects to generate approximately Rs76.79 million in revenue over the full contract period.
Similarly, the annual base rate for Zarghoon Park in Zarghoon Housing Scheme was fixed at Rs960,000, but competitive bidding pushed the final annual bid to Rs5.2 million, representing an increase of 441.67 percent over the base rate.
The contract for Zarghoon Park covers 10 years, with a 10 percent annual increase. The projected revenue from the park over the complete contract period is approximately Rs82.88 million.
Together, the two parks are expected to generate around Rs159.67 million (Rs15.97 crore) over their respective contract periods.
The QDA also auctioned three condemned government machinery items, generating Rs8.19 million. The auction proceeds included Rs3.535 million for a Komatsu grader, Rs1.725 million for a Sakai road roller and Rs2.932 million for a Nissan truck.
Representatives of NAB Balochistan, the Anti-Corruption Establishment, FIA, Commissioner Quetta Division, Quetta Cantonment and Quetta Metropolitan Corporation attended the proceedings as observers.
The QDA said the participation of representatives from multiple institutions was aimed at ensuring impartiality, fairness and public confidence in the bidding and auction process.
The authority described the successful completion of the process as a significant step toward improving transparency, promoting competitive bidding and ensuring the productive use of government-owned public assets.
