Islamabad: Thousands of medical and dental aspirants are eagerly awaiting the NUMS MDCAT 2026 result after the National University of Medical Sciences conducted the entrance test on September 13 for admission to MBBS and BDS programmes for the 2026-27 session.
As of September 22, 2026, NUMS has officially confirmed the successful conduct of the examination but has not yet published an official result announcement on its website. Candidates are therefore advised to wait for the university’s official notification rather than relying on unverified result dates circulating on social media.
Around 43,000 Candidates Appeared in NUMS MDCAT 2026
According to NUMS, approximately 43,000 candidates appeared in the NUMS MDCAT 2026. The examination was conducted simultaneously at 16 examination stations, comprising 15 centres across Pakistan and one international centre in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
The test is mandatory for admission to MBBS and BDS programmes in NUMS constituent, affiliated and Armed Forces-administered medical and dental colleges for the 2026-27 academic session.
When Will NUMS MDCAT 2026 Result Be Announced?

The university’s official MDCAT 2026 page currently confirms that the examination was scheduled for September 13, 2026, while its latest featured update confirms that the test has been conducted.

What Happened Last Year?
The previous year’s timeline provides some context. NUMS MDCAT 2025 was held on September 28, 2025, after being postponed from September 14. NUMS subsequently announced the 2025 result on October 8, 2025.
However, the 2025 timeline should not be interpreted as an official indication of the 2026 result date.
MDCAT Candidate Numbers Show Wider Decline
The NUMS MDCAT result comes amid a broader change in Pakistan’s medical admission landscape.
According to figures from PMDC data, the number of candidates for the national MDCAT declined from 204,253 in 2022 to approximately 138,000 in 2026.

The Pakistan Medical Association has attributed the decline to factors including rising private medical education costs, concerns about doctors’ financial prospects and increasing interest among students in fields such as computer science, artificial intelligence and biotechnology. These are the PMA’s stated explanations rather than independently established causes.

Students awaiting the NUMS MDCAT 2026 result should regularly check the official NUMS website and their registered communication channels.
Once the result is officially announced, candidates should verify their marks and retain a copy of their result for the subsequent MBBS and BDS admission process.
