QUETTA: Balochistan Education Secretary Lal Jan Jaffar has inaugurated a programme to provide school kits and basic healthcare facilities to children in more than 1,500 schools across 16 districts of Balochistan.
The initiative has been launched with the support of UNICEF and the Global Partnership for Education (GPE) and aims to strengthen educational support and improve the learning environment for schoolchildren across the province.
Speaking at the inauguration ceremony held at Government Technical School Quetta, Education Secretary Lal Jan Jaffar said providing basic healthcare facilities alongside educational support was among the government’s priorities.
He said the distribution of school kits would help students meet essential educational needs and support their participation in learning activities. The provision of basic healthcare facilities, he added, would also contribute to improving students’ health and creating a healthier school environment.
Lal Jan Jaffar said the Balochistan Education Department was taking measures to improve the quality of education, provide essential facilities in schools and increase children’s enrolment and regular attendance.
According to the Education Department, students enrolled in more than 1,500 schools across 16 districts will benefit from the programme.
The initiative comes as part of broader efforts to improve education access, school facilities, student health and learning conditions in Balochistan.
