By Our Correspondent: Pakistan’s military leadership has vowed to deal decisively with any attempt to create violent unrest or situations similar to the May 9 events, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said.

The statement came after the 27th Corps Commanders Conference, chaired by Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, which reviewed Pakistan’s internal and external security environment.

According to ISPR, the forum reaffirmed that “any attempt to create violent disorder under any pretext” would be dealt with decisively, in accordance with the law and “without discrimination or hesitation.”

The commanders also discussed the threat of terrorism originating from Afghanistan and said targeted actions against terrorist elements were Pakistan’s right to self-defence.

The forum appreciated the successful intelligence-based counterterrorism operations conducted by law enforcement agencies and stressed that eliminating terrorism required a comprehensive approach.

“Ground operations must be complemented by effective administrative and governance measures,” ISPR quoted the participants as saying.

The commanders also emphasised effective engagement with the public on the causes of terrorism and the need to develop an effective counter-narrative against terrorist propaganda.

The forum stressed that dismantling the nexus between terrorist groups and criminal networks was essential to eliminating terrorism.

The participants further called for strengthening the capacity of police and other law enforcement agencies, stressing that internal stability was of critical importance for Pakistan.

Pakistan-Saudi Arabia-Türkiye Defence Cooperation

The Corps Commanders Conference welcomed the Pakistan-Saudi Arabia-Türkiye defence cooperation agreement, describing it as an important development for strengthening the three countries’ longstanding strategic relations and defence cooperation, according to ISPR.

The forum also strongly condemned Houthi attacks against Saudi Arabia and expressed solidarity with the Kingdom.

The commanders reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to the protection and sanctity of the Holy Mosques and reaffirmed solidarity with Saudi Arabia.

Kashmir Dispute

The conference also reiterated that the Kashmir dispute should be resolved in accordance with relevant United Nations Security Council resolutions and the aspirations of the Kashmiri people, ISPR said.

The 27th Corps Commanders Conference reviewed key national security challenges, counterterrorism operations, regional developments and measures aimed at strengthening Pakistan’s internal stability.
