Quetta: The Quetta Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Balochistan, has advised traders importing goods from Iran to temporarily suspend new purchases and cargo bookings following the withdrawal of an order extending the Electronic Import Form (EIF) Waiver.
The advisory aims to protect traders from potential financial losses and complications in customs clearance amid uncertainty over the current legal status of the waiver.
According to a notification issued by the Quetta Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Ministry of Commerce, Government of Pakistan, withdrew its October 3, 2026, order regarding the extension of the EIF Waiver for imports from Iran through an office memorandum dated October 16, 2026.
The memorandum was issued under reference number 9(3)/2017-IRAN, and the earlier order was withdrawn with immediate effect.
The chamber said traders engaged in Pakistan-Iran trade should verify the latest regulatory requirements with the relevant authorities before making new purchases, booking consignments or proceeding with import arrangements.
It warned that continuing import transactions without clarity on the waiver’s legal status could expose businesses to financial risks and difficulties in customs clearance.
The chamber has advised importers to seek clarification from the Ministry of Commerce, the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) and other relevant authorities before undertaking new transactions.
Until an official clarification is issued regarding the EIF Waiver, traders have been urged to temporarily halt new purchases and bookings from Iran as a precautionary measure.
The Quetta Chamber of Commerce and Industry emphasized that the advisory is intended to safeguard the financial interests of the business community and minimize potential complications in import procedures.
It also urged its members to verify official instructions before entering into new commercial agreements or committing funds to import consignments.
The chamber called on all traders conducting business with Iran to follow the advisory and exercise caution until the relevant authorities provide further clarification on the waiver’s status.
