MDCAT test on Nov 29, SHC dismisses petition

QUETTA: Sindh High Court (SHC) on Friday rejected a petition to postpone the Medical and Dental College admission (2020). The MDCAT test is scheduled for November 29 across Pakistan. Over 1,50,000 students from all provinces will participate in the admission test.
Jibran Nasir, a well-known human rights activist had challenged the holding of the admission test owing to the second-wave of COVID19. The court rejected the petition and ordered the authorities to ensure strict implementation of the of the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) during the test.
Not only the students but politicians had also opposed the decision of the authorities to hold the test despite closing down all educational institutes in the country in the wake of COVID19.
The PML N Vice-President Maryam Nawaz had also opposed the admission test due to increasing cases of the COVID19 in the country. In a tweet, she said the government should not put the lives of students at stake and avoid holding of the test.
“While all educational institutions are closed and exams are being postponed, MDCAT students are being forced to appear for NMDCAT test by PMC. Isn’t [the] safety of medical students & [the] safety of their families not as important? Why the discrimination? Why imperil them & their families?” Maryam Nawaz wrote on Twitter.
