PDM demands immediate verdict on PTI foreign funding case

The component parties of the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) have demanded of the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) to issue a verdict with regard to the foreign funding case of ruling Pakistan Tehrik e Insaf (PTI).
The opposition parties staged a protest demonstration outside the ECP office to mount pressure for the immediate release of the foreign funding case of the ruling party.
The PDM Chief Maulana Fazal ur Rehman and PML N Vice-President Maryam Nawaz led the protesters calling for the immediate release of the verdict. Other top leaders of the anti-government alliance also reached the spot. The opposition leaders were on the container to address the emotionally charged political workers.
“This illegitimate government has to go”, Maryam Nawaz said. She said the days of the PTI government have numbered and that the anti-government alliance was intensifying its struggle.
She termed the foreign funding case as the largest scandal in Pakistan. She however mentioned that the PDM would continue to raise voice against the rulers.
Security high alert in the federal capital
Earlier: Security has been placed on a high alert in the federal capital as the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) prepares to stage a protest demonstration outside the Election Commission of Pakistan.
The anti-government alliance had announced to stage a protest demonstration on Tuesday as a part of its ongoing protest movement. The PDM accused the EPC of persistent delay in announcing the verdict about the ruling Pakistan Tehrik e Insaf (PTI) foreign funding case.
All exit and entry points towards the Red Zone have been strictly manned and closed on the eve of the 11-party alliance’s protest demonstration.
Maryam Aurangzaib, the Spokesman of the mainstream opposition party, the Pakistan Muslim League (N) said the workers of the party would gather at 1 pm at Kashmir highway to proceed towards the ECP office.
“The ECP should start writing a verdict about the PTI’s foreign funding case”, she said. The PML N leader lashed out at the ECP for what she claimed persistent delay on its part to issue a verdict in this regard.
“None would be allowed to taken law into hands”, Sheikh Rasheed
The Interior Minister, Sheikh Rasheed Ahmed, however, said that the government had decided to allow the PDM to stage a protest demonstration. He, however, warned that none would be allowed to take the law into hands.
The federal information minister, Shibli Faraz also said that the government would not create any obstacle in the way of opposition parties’ protest. He said the government has no issue with their protest but they would not be allowed to take the law into their hands.
