A man and woman were killed in a firing incident in Balochistan’s Kalat district on Sunday. Levies sources said the firing incident happened in the Chahpar area of Kalat district.

The dead bodies of the victims shifted to district headquarters hospital Kalat for postmortem. Levies reached the spot to probe into the incident. However, no arrest made after the incident. Levies said the incident was an act of ‘honor killing’. Levies personnel requested anonymity because of the sensitivityy of the matter.

Dead bodies of the victims handed over to their heirs after conducting a postmortem. Both the victims had received multiple bullet injuries. This incident has come almost three weeks after a man and woman killed in Balochistan’s Zhob district.

“Honor killings’ on a constant rise

Incidents of ‘honor killings’ appeared to be on a constant rise in various parts of Balochistan. Women rights groups have expressed serious concern over increasing acts of ‘honor killings’ in the province. “Violence against women continues to rise”, Allauddin Khilji, the Balochistan chapter chief of Aurat Foundation said.

Unlike past, nowadays, people are reporting such incidents in remote areas of Balochistan, Mr. Khilji stated.
