QUETTA: Senior lawyers filed a petition against establishment of quarantine center in Quetta in Balochistan High Court on Thursday. Senior lawyers Rab Nawaz advocate and Attaullah Langove advocate filed the petition demanding of the court to issue order to the Balochistan government to send the Zaireen (Shia pilgrims) to their native provinces.
Chief Justice BHC, Justice Jamal Mandokhail during the hearing of the case remarked that all segments of society should support the government in this troubled time instead of criticizing it. “We would make sure implementation of WHO standards through government”, Justice Mandokhail said during the hearing.
Members of legal fraternity also boycotted courts in Quetta to protest over the establishment of quarantine center for Zaireen in the city. The government must not quarantine Zaireen here in Quetta rather they should be directly sent to their concerned provinces, Ishaq Khan Nasar, a senior lawyer tells Quetta Voice on Thursday. It is the core responsibility of the government to halt the spread of deadly novel corona virus, Mr. Nasar demanded.
The lawyers did not appear before the courts in protest over establishment of quarantine center in Quetta.
During the hearing of the petition, the advocate general Balochistan, Arbab Tahir informed the court that law enforcement agencies had caught Zaireen in Quetta and they were quarantined immediately to halt the spread of the virus. He said some of the zaireen had made fake local certificates to avoid any arrest.
The Balochistan government has imposed emergency and established centers to quarantine zaireen fleeing from Taftan border. So far one case of corona virus has been confirmed in Balochistan. A 12 year old boy was tested positive for the novel corona virus in Quetta the other day.
