Uproar in Balochistan Assembly over word ‘Southern’

Uproar marred the session of Balochistan Assembly over the word ‘Southern Balochistan’ on Tuesday evening. Opposition legislators from the Balochistan National  Party (Mengal) wanted to speak on the word “Southern Balochistan’.

The session of the Balochistan Assembly resumed here with Speaker Qudoos Bizenjo in the chair. As the proceedings started, the BNP M legislator Sanaullah Baloch stood at his seat to speak about the geographical status of ‘Southern Balochistan’. The chair and BNP legislators exchanged hot words during the session.

 

Opposition stages walkout from Balochistan Assembly

Subsequently, the opposition legislators staged a walkout from the session and tore the agenda of the house proceedings.

Balochistan Finance Minister, Zahoor Buledi clarified that the districts of southern parts of the province have badly suffered because of terror activities since 2008. Therefore, the government has launched 199 development schemes to bring the area at par with other parts of the country.

Constitutionally, there is only one word Balochistan, rather than northern or southern, Sanaullah Baloch noted.

CM terms endowment fund a major initiative 

During the question and answer session, the Chief Minister Balochistan, Jam Kamal Khan termed the endowment fund one of the major initiatives of his government. “We are trying to enhance endowment fund from Rs. 3 to 5 billion”, the CM told the house.

He said major beneficiaries of the endowment funds were from Balochistan’s Pishin district. The Balochistan government-provided health treatment to around 1500 patients under the endowment fund.

Nasrullah Zarai had submitted questions about health 

Pashtoonkhwa Milli Awami Party (PKMAP) legislator Nasrullah Khan Zarai had submitted questions with regard to the endowment fund of the provincial government.

The Pakistan Tehrik e Insaf (PTI) legislator Mobeen Ahmed  Khilji apprised the house with regard to the shifting of farms, showrooms, and garages from the city.

The chair adjourned the session till April 23rd.
