264 people injured in 128 traffic accidents during Eid ul Fitar in Balochistan

At least 264 people injured in 128 traffic accidents across Balochistan on the eve of recently passed Eid ul Fitar. The Medical Emergency Response Center (MERC) has responded to 128 traffic accidents across Balochistan on the eve of Eid ul Fitar. The traffic accidents recorded by MERC from May 13 to 15 left 264 people injured, Aziz Ahmed Jamali, the Chief Executive of rescue service told Quetta Voice.

The rescue service has however recorded three traffic accidents related deaths in the province. “This is what we responded on national highways”, Mr. Jamali said. “We have no data of traffic accidents have taken a place in villages, mountains, deserts”, he mentioned.

Winder Lasbella center reports 88 traffic accidents within three-days 

Mr. Jamali informed that most of the traffic accidents took a place in Winder Lasbella and Baghbana Khuzdar district. During three days, 88 people injured in 88 traffic accidents on Winder Lasbella road accidents. Similarly, traffic accidents left 21 people in 11 traffic accidents, MERC data reveals.

MERC shifts 15,000 injured of road accidents to hospital since October 2019 

The Medical Emergency Response Center (MERC) has shifted over 15,000 injured of road accidents to hospitals across Balochistan since October 2019. Traffic accidents continue to claim precious human lives on a daily basis in various parts of Balochistan. Over-speeding, reckless driving, and poor conditions of roads/highways are the underlying reasons behind rampant road accidents.

78 percent of those injured in traffic accidents were bike riders 

In response to a question, Mr. Jamali revealed that 78 percent of those injured in road accidents were bike riders. “Since there is no custom of wearing a helmet that is why most of the riders suffered head injuries”, he said.
