World Environment Day: 300 cases pending in environmental tribunal Balochistan

Over 300 cases about environmental issues are currently pending at the Balochistan Environmental Tribunal. This was revealed by Rizwan Kasi, the legal adviser Islamic Relief Balochistan Region while addressing a seminar about environmental issues on Friday.
Mr. Kasi underlined the need for timely disposal of cases and appeals pending in the Balochistan Environmental Tribunal. The speakers also emphasized the need for taking effective steps to plant maximum trees to mitigate the impacts of global warming and climate change.
Looming threat of global warming
Environmentalists, educationists, members of civil society, journalists spoke at length about the looming threat of global warming. They warned that Balochistan is prone to natural disasters and effective steps need to be taken to mitigate its impacts.
Celsius continues to rise as a result of global warming. “This is disastrous for the environment”, Raza Qazi, another official of the Islamic Relief stated.
Speakers demand immediate disposal of tribunal cases
The speakers demanded immediate disposal of cases to ensure reward and punishment with regard to environmental issues. They also called for the implementation of the Balochistan Environmental Protection Agency (BEPA) Act 2014 to address issues relating to the environment.
Kaleem Ullah Quraish Advocate and others also addressed the seminar about environmental issues in Balochistan.
