SIBI: President of Pakistan, Dr. Arif Alvi inaugurated the historic centuries old Sibi Mela on Wednesday. During the inaugural session, the famous flower show, traditional Balochi, Pashto, Punjabi and Sindhi dances were presented. The stadium, where the Mela began, was jam-packed with people belonging to various parts of the country. Women and children also witnessed the inaugural ceremony of the historic Mela.
President Arif Alvi stated that the Mela was an example of rich history and tradition of Balochistan. He said the Mela serves to be a good opportunity for livestock owners, agriculturists and businessmen to promote their areas of business.
Chief Minister Jam Kamal Khan, provincial ministers and high level officials participated in the ceremony.
Jam Kamal Khan mentioned that despite technology and industry’s revolution, most of the people in Balochistan were dependent on livestock and agriculture sectors. He said these two sectors were interlinked and that his government was committed to promote these sectors to open new vistas of employment for the people.
The Chief Minister thus mentioned that for promotion of agriculture, his government has launched a green tractor scheme to support the growers of the province.
Earlier, provincial minister for agriculture, Zamarak Khan Achakzai presented his address of welcome and demanded of the president to address issues relating to Balochistan.
