QUETTA: Well-known chest physician, Dr. Shireen Khan has revealed that the deadly novel corona virus is likely to diminish in summer. Comparatively, the virus penetrates during winter season.

As far as the symptoms of the corona virus are concerned, they are similar to common coughing, fever etc, Dr. Shireen Khan told Quetta Voice in an interview. In Pakistan, hitherto six cases of novel corona virus have been reported. Dr. Zafar Mirza, the prime minister’s adviser on health said all six patients had travel history of Iran in recent. They all have been quarantined, Mr. Mirza stated.

The best way to protect from the virus is to regularly wash hands, improve hygienic conditions and avoid interaction with those coming from corona affected countries such as Iran and China, he said.  Dr. Shireen Khan stated that the virus is not dangerous for everyone except those whose immune system is weak and already suffered from diseases.

Pakistan has already closed its borders with Iran and Afghanistan after increasing number of corona virus cases in the two neighbors. In Iran, the virus has so far killed around 100 people with over 1000 affected. Similarly, corona virus cases have also been reported from Afghanistan.

“Those who suffer from coughing should wear face mask to avoid its spread”, Dr. Shireen Khan said, saying there was no need for healthy  people to use masks.

Pakistan has also stopped the entry of Zaireen (Shia Pilgrims) from Iran. Currently, hundreds of Zaireen have been kept in quarantine center at Taftan, Pakistan’s bordering town with Iran. “We can allow Zaireen after verification by health authorities of Iran”, Liaqat Shahwani, the Spokesman government of Balochistan told Quetta Voice. He said all out efforts were being made by the provincial government to halt the corona virus.

So far, no case of novel corona virus has been reported from any part of Balochistan, Mr. Shahwani said.
