Balochistan's Healthcare Crisis

QUETTA: Record 57 new cases of the novel coronavirus were reported on Wednesday in Quetta. With the confirmation of 57 new cases, the tally has risen to 552 in Balochistan, Liaquat Shahwani the Spokesman government of Balochistan said.

Most of the cases were locally transmitted and from almost all parts of Quetta city. The patients tested positive for the novel coronavirus have been admitted in Sheikh Zayed Hospital for medical treatment.

The deadly virus caused 8 deaths so far in Balochistan. However, 170 patients have been discharged from hospital after recovering from the disease. Hitherto, the government has conducted nearly 7,000 tests of coronavirus. The government has also decided to conduct the tests of 50,000 in the province, Liaquat Shahwani, the government spokesman said the other day. The number of suspected coronavirus patients in the province is currently over 7,000, the corona cell established at health directorate Balochistan said in a statement on Wednesday evening.

The government has declared an emergency in all government-run hospitals to treat coronavirus patients.
