The novel coronavirus continues to spread in Balochistan as fast as it spreads across the globe. Hitherto, 83 percent of cases of the COVID19 are locally transmitted, an official of the Balochistan health department who declined to be named told daily Quetta Voice.

Local cases have passed 700 in Balochistan as various districts of the province continue to confirm fresh cases, the official mentioned. Quetta, Pishin, Jaffarabad, Chaghi Mastung districts have been hit hard by the virus.

A combined family system compounds the problems of people as one patient infects other family members too. First case of the novel coronavirus was confirmed in Balochistan on March 10 when a patient from Sindh returning from neighboring Iran was admitted to Fatima Jinnah Chest and TB Hospital, Dr. Noorullah Musakhail, the MSĀ  of the hospital who also contracted the virus yesterday told daily Quetta Voice.

The cases have been confirmed among the health professionals battling the virus at the cost of their lives. On Tuesday, another doctor identified as Abdullah Khan, a well-known surgeon was tested positive for the coronavirus in Quetta, the daily Quetta Voice learned through a reliable source.
