A kid being administered polio drops in Quetta: Photo Quetta Voice

JAFFARABAD: A four-year-old girl was tested positive for the poliovirus in Balochistan’s Jaffarabad district on Saturday. The parents of the baby girl had refused to provide polio drops, a health official who declined to be named told daily Quetta Voice.

Samples of the baby girls were collected on April 20-21st for laboratory tests. The laboratory report has confirmed that the minor kid has contracted the virus, the official stated. With the confirmation of fresh polio case, the number of cases has reached 7 in Balochistan during the current year.

The infected girl belongs to Osta Muhammad Tehsil of Jaffarabad district, the health official informed. The last case was reported on March 11 in the province when a two-year-old boy was tested positive for poliovirus in Zhob region of Balochistan.
