Health Desk:

A total of 454 patients have recovered from the novel coronavirus in Balochistan as per the statistics shared by the Corona Cell of the health department on Sunday. The Corona Cell, however, confirmed 148 patients of novel coronavirus as the tally reached 2,692 in the province.

Most of the patients have recovered from the deadly virus at their homes during isolation, Waseem Baig, the Spokesman for the Cell tells the daily Quetta Voice. However, independent sources put the number of recovered persons much higher than what is being quoted by the officials since many patients preferred not to get themselves tested from Covid-19.

He however informed that the mortality rate has increased from 1.5 percent to 2 percent in the aftermath of recent deaths in the province.

Balochistan health department has conducted over 18,000 tests so far since the outbreak of the deadly virus. “We are trying to further improve our testing capacity”, Liaquat Shahwani, the Spokesman government of Balochistan said on Sunday.

The laboratory had conducted 358 tests on Sunday and out of them 148 were declared positive. “This is an increasing number of patients”, an official of the laboratory at the Fatima Jinnah Chest and TB Hospital Quetta told the daily Quetta Voice. He declined to be named since he was not authorized to speak to the media.
