With the confirmation of a fresh case of poliovirus, cases in Balochistan have reached 8 in the province. However, countrywide cases have jumped to 50 during the current year.
Despite three decades of anti-polio campaigns, the crippling virus is yet to be eradicated. Most of the cases have been reported from Killa Abdullah, Pishin, Quetta and other parts of Balochistan. The reason behind the increasing cases is said to be refusal on the part of parents.
