Members of the Syndicate University of Balochistan (UoB) have recommended the launching of judicial inquiry against former Vice-Chancellor, Dr. Javed Iqbal with regard to the harassment scandal. The Syndicate meeting was held on the directives of the Balochistan High Court (BHC) regarding the university harassment scandal.
Senior Judge of the BHC, Mr. Justice Hashim Khan Kakar, Dr. Shafiq u Rehman of the UoB, Adviser to the Chief Minister Balochistan, Bushra Rindh, Roshan Khursheed Bharucha, Dr. Saud Taj, Dr. Kaleemullah Bareech and others participated in the meeting. The meeting thoroughly discussed the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) report regarding the scandal that was unearthed last year in university and made important recommendations in this regard.
The meeting recommended withdrawals of all medals and rewards from former VC Professor, Dr. Javed Iqbal regarding the harassment scandal. The Syndicate recommended the removal of Muhammad Naeem, Chief Security Office and dismissal of service of Saifullah, a security guard from service. It was decided to stop two years increments of former registrar UoB, Tariq Jogezai and Sharif Shahwani, a former transport officer.
The BHC had directed the UoB to hold the Syndicate meeting and make recommendations with regard to the FIA’s inquiry report about the harassment scandal on June 30th this year.
Students, teachers, political parties and members of civil society had demanded an action against the accused involved in the harassment scandal at UoB last year. Protest demonstrations were held across the province to mount pressure on the authorities to punish the culprits involved in the scandal.
