Congo virus claims 3 lives infected 25 in Balochistan

Six people have been tested positive for the Congovirus in Quetta’s Fatima Jinnah Chest and General Hospital on Thursday. The patients have been admitted to the isolation ward of the hospital to make sure the provision of required treatment.

Three patients belong to Quetta, two belong to Killa Saifullah and one hails from Balochistan’s Pishin district, sources in the hospital disclosed to the daily Quetta Voice. The patients contracted the virus after their close contact with livestock during recent Eid ul Azha ( A Muslim religious festival).

Three patients of the Congvirus are already under treatment in the hospital. Balochistan had confirmed the first case of the Congovirus the other day during the current year. Condition of one of the patients is serious whereas the remaining 8 patients are in stable condition, sources revealed.

The virus continues to affect shepherds and the people involved in the routine animal business in Balochistan’s Loralai, Killa Saifullah districts.

All health protocols have been adopted and no outsider is allowed to interact with patients, sources informed.
