Quetta: Four injured in Hazar Ganji blast

A blast in Quetta has injured 5 people.  An improvised explosive device planted in a motorcycle exploded with a big bang. The motorcycle was parked outside a mosque in Quetta’s Sariab Road area. The bomb went off when the people were coming out of the mosque after Friday prayer, police said.

Unknown miscreants had planted one and a half kilogram explosives in the motorcycle, a police officer who declined to be named told the daily Quetta Voice. He was not authorized to speak to the media.

Razzaq Cheema, the Deputy Inspector General Police Quetta said bomb disposal squad team has moved towards the spot to conduct sweeping of the entire area.  “Three motorcycles caught fire”, he said. All the injured are civilians, Cheema informed.

The injured were rushed to civil hospital Quetta for medical treatment. Three injured of the blast have been brought to the Trauma Center of the hospital, Waseem Baig, the Spokesman civil hospital said. An emergency was declared in the hospital to treat the injured. Policemen reached the spot to probe into the incident.

The condition of the injured is out of danger, Mr. Baig told the daily Quetta Voice via telephone.

CCTV Footage 

Footage of the blast shows dust, fire and thick black smoke rising from the spot. The IED blast went off when the people were coming out of the Mosque. The blast also smashed glasses of nearby homes and shops in the area. Shops and markets were immediately closed in the aftermath of the blast.

Sariab Road is considered to be one of the most sensitive parts of Quetta city. In the past, bomb explosions, targeted killings, and kidnappings were the order of the day in the area. Security has been tightened in the area to avert any untoward incident.
