SC directs completion of all dams within 3 years in Balochistan

QUETTA: Supreme Court (SC) has ordered the completion of the construction of all dams within the next three years in Balochistan. The SC bench passed this order during the hearing of the water shortage case in the Quetta registry on Wednesday.
Chief Justice SC, Mr. Justice Gulzar Ahmed, Mr. Justice Ejaz ul Hassan, and Mr. Justice Faisal Arab were hearing the water shortage case in Quetta. The bench expressed serious concern over the scarcity of water in the province.
SC directs the government to submit a progress report
The bench directed the concerned quarters to submit the report of the construction of dams within every three months in the apex court. “The construction of dams is necessary to overcome the scarcity of water problem”, the Chief Justice remarked.
“Scarcity of water is alarming here”, the top judge of the country asked that how many dams are being constructed? The Advocate General Balochistan, Arbab Tahir Advocate informed the court the Shaid Kor dam and Mirani dam full of water currently, and they can meet the province’s requirement.
“Currently five dams completed and four dams to complete next year”, the Secretary PHE informed the court.
Chief Justice, Mr. Justice Gulzar Ahmed said, “you have no time since it is an urgent matter double efforts to construct dams”. The Secretary told that construction work was underway on 100 dams in the province. He mentioned that 40 dams already completed and construction work underway on 60 dams.
The top judge of the country directed the completion of the construction of all dams in the province within the next three years to address the issue of scarcity of water. The court then adjourned the water scarcity case in Balochistan for three months.
