Staff Reporter :
Successful candidates on teachers’ vacancies set up a protest camp outside the Quetta Press Club in support of their demands. Short-listed candidates who qualified an online test for over 9,000 vacancies of teachers in various categories in Balochistan last year are yet to get their appointment orders. “My name is in the merit list but the department is not issuing order”, Rehmatullah Yaseenzai, a short-listed candidate lamented.
Around 100,000 candidates appeared in online test across Balochistan
Around 100,000 candidates appeared in the online test conducted last year in all 33 district headquarters of Balochistan. The testing service CTSP compiled the list of the candidates. However, for the last more than 10 months, the candidates have not been issued appointment orders by the education department in Balochistan.
The candidates established a protest camp outside Quetta Press Club to mount press on the government to issue appointment orders. “We will intensify our protest if the government did not issue appointment orders”, Mufti Shafiqullah, another candidate warned. He said the number of protesting candidates continues to increase in the protest camp.
The education department Balochistan had recruited 5000 teachers through national testing service during 2015. Since then, no teacher has been appointed in the province. In Balochistan, thousands of schools are not functional as a result of a lack of teaching staff.
The author tried to speak to the Secretary of education Balochistan but the latter did not answer the question regarding the ongoing protest of candidates.
