ISPR: The military’s media wing stated that, Pakistan Navy has formally inducted its second MILGEM-class corvette, PNS Khaibar, into the fleet, marking a significant step in strengthening the country’s maritime defense and strategic capabilities.
Speaking at the induction ceremony, Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral Naveed Ashraf highlighted the critical need for a strong, balanced, and technologically advanced navy to safeguard Pakistan’s interests, especially given its strategic location along key global maritime trade and energy corridors.
He emphasized that secure Sea Lines of Communications (SLOCs) are vital for economic stability and national security, adding that Pakistan Navy remains fully prepared to counter any threats in the maritime domain.
Referring to past naval readiness, the Naval Chief stated that during Marka-e-Haq, Pakistan Navy maintained a high level of operational preparedness, which effectively deterred adversary forces and reinforced maritime security in the region.
Admiral Ashraf noted that the Navy is being equipped with state-of-the-art platforms and advanced technologies to enhance its ability to respond to emerging threats, including targeting critical enemy infrastructure and naval assets if required.
He described the induction of PNS Khaibar, along with the upcoming Hangor-class submarines, as a major milestone in the Navy’s modernization drive, significantly improving combat strength, operational flexibility, and strategic reach.
The Naval Chief concluded by extending his best wishes to the crew of PNS Khaibar and reaffirmed Pakistan Navy’s commitment to defending the country’s maritime frontiers and ensuring regional stability.
