Barkhan Police arrest husband for killing wife

BARKHAN: Police in Balochistan’s district Barkhan arrested a husband for killing his wife. Syed Saboor Agha, the Superintendent of Police Barkhan told Quetta Voice that a woman identified as Nusrat Bibi murdered in the Kandhar Colony area of the district

The family members of the deceased portrayed it as a suicide by the woman. Police shifted the dead body of the woman to the district headquarter hospital Barkhan for postmortem. “Medical report proved the woman had received two bullets”, Mr. Agha informed.

Soon after this, we dispatched a police team headed by acting deputy superintendent of police Usman Ghani and other officials, he said. The police team arrested the accused husband Zahir Shah in connection with the murder of his wife. The accused Shah was already wanted in another murder case by Barkhan police, the SP police said. “The accused has confessed his involvement in the murder”, he claimed. He said police have also recovered a pistol from his possession. The reason behind the murder of woman is yet to be known. 

In Balochistan, violent acts against women have increased during the year 2020 as compared to the past. In the recent past, two women brutally murdered in the Muslim Bagh and Toba Achakzai area of Balochistan. Levies succeeded in arresting the husband involved in the murder of his wife in the Toba Achakzai area of district Killa Abdullah. However, the accused involved in the murder of a woman in Muslim Bagh tehsil of Killa Saifullah district is still at large.

Women and human rights groups have expressed serious concern about the increasing acts of violence against the women segment of society. They have demanded of the government to arrest the culprits involved in violent acts against women in Balochistan.
