Dr. Sultan Zeb, the Associate Dean at the Khyber College of Dentistry died of COVID19 on Saturday. Dr. Zeb was battling the deadly virus at Hayatabad Medical Complex, the Provincial Doctors Association (PDA) said in a statement.

The laboratory tests conducted earlier confirmed that Dr. Zeb had contracted the deadly virus. Expressing grief at his demise, the association said Dr. Zeb’s contributions to the field of medicine would be remembered. The statement added that his funeral would take place in Buner.

“So far, 20 doctors in the province have lost their lives due to the virus,” the statement said. The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has not yet released the Shuhada Package for healthcare workers that have succumbed to the virus and have also not provided risk allowance for medical practitioners, the PDA said.

In Balochistan, the Coronavirus has claimed four lives of doctors so far. However, scores of the doctors tested positive for the novel coronavirus while treating patients in hospitals.

In view of services rendered by health professionals, the Balochistan government has also announced to pay a one-month basic salary to all health employees battling the virus.
