Reko Diq Case: BHC Grants bail before-arrest to 4 accused

QUETTA: The Balochistan High Court (BHC) on Friday granted bail before-arrest to 4 accused in the Reko Diq corruption case. Chief Justice BHC, Mr. Justice Jamal Khan Mandokhail granted bail before-arrest to 4 accused in the mega corruption case.
Court sources told Quetta Voice bail granted to Captain (R) Fareed Uddin Ahmedzai, Shehbaz Khan Mandokhail, Bari Dad, and Muhammad Tahir. Wali Khan Nasar, a senior lawyer appeared before the court pleading for bail for the accused.
The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) had filed a reference against 26 accused of what it claimed inflicting trillions of financial losses to the national exchequer. Out of a total of 26 accused, 4 got bail before-arrest from the BHC. The accused key government officials, representatives, and officers of an Australian Company on the Reko Diq Gold-Copper Project.
NAB Balochistan searched through the three-decades-old records and obtained solid evidence against the accused of their involvement in the mega corruption case, Spokesman NAB said.
The Accountability Court has also issued notices to all 26 accused and directed them to appear before the court on November 18 of this month. Reko Diq is located in Balochistan’s Chaghi district. Geologists say Reko Diq has gold and copper reservoirs worth billions of dollars.
