Information Ministry under Durrani among top 5 ministries

The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has made considerable strides in upholding the banner of merit, transparency, and establishing credibility under the outgoing secretary Akbar Hussain Durrani.

The ministry is placed on merits amongst the first five top ministries of the federal government and behind that achievement are the efforts and leadership of outgoing secretary Akbar Durrani. Durrani, a grade-22 officer of the Pakistan Administrative Service (PAS) group, was transferred from the office of secretary information and broadcasting last week.

Durrani served as home secretary in Balochistan during tough days 

Durrani has also served as home secretary Balochistan amid worsening law and order situation. He was considered to be the sole spokesman of the Balochistan government during those tough days when most of the high ups preferred to be mum.

Activation of Information Services Academy (ISA), publications on different occasions, restructuring of Pakistan Broadcasting Corporation (PBC), Associated Press of Pakistan Corporation (APPC), External Publicity Wing, Internal Publicity Wing, Cyber Wing, Press Council of Pakistan, strengthening of regional information offices, formulation of media & film policy, clearance of outstanding dues of advertisements, promotion of 17 to 18 & 19-grade officers, selection and posting of officers as press councilors and press attaché’s on all missions abroad.

PEMRA, Implementation Tribunal 

PEMRA and Implementation Tribunal for Newspapers Employees (ITNE) were also provided full support to facilitate electronic and print media.

An MoU between Barrister Bilal Sufi (RSIL) and Information Ministry on lawfare was signed. Moreover, an MoU with British High Commissioner (BHC)on Pakistan Peace Collective (PPC) was signed with the consent that the word Terrorism/ Extremism will not be used anymore in seminars of PPC rather tourism and the emerging economy will be focused to create the soft image of Pakistan. He used to assign goals to different departments of the ministry and would keep following developments until the tasks were completed.
