1200 patients treated under Balochistan Endowment Fund: Jam Kamal
Matiullah Khan :
Chief Minister, Jam Kamal Khan on Tuesday evening said the provincial government had spent vast amounts on the treatment of around 1200 patients under the Balochistan Endowment Fund. The government had launched the endowment fund in 2018 to provide medical treatment to cancer, kidney transplant, liver transplant, thalassemia, cardiac diseases, and other patients suffering from major diseases.
“Treatment of such diseases was beyond the reach of a common man that’s why we launched this program”, the Chief Minister told the Balochistan Assembly session. The session of the assembly started here with deputy speaker Sardar Babar Khan Musakhail in the chair. The Endowment Fund is established under the Social Welfare Department with a board of directors making key decisions.
Jam Kamal however announced that health insurance cards would be issued to the masses to provide better health facilities in the province. He informed the house that the establishment of the cancer hospital was in the final stages to provide treatment to the patients here in Quetta.
Zamarak Achakzai and Asghar Tareen exchanged hot words during the session
During the assembly session, Awami National Party (ANP) leader Zamarak Achakzai and Asghar Ali Tareen of the Jamiat ul Ulema e Islam (JUI) exchanged hot words during the session. The JUI (F) lawmaker complained about the lack of basic facilities in Pishin and other parts of the province. He also claimed that Prime Minister in his recent visit to Turbat ignored Pashtoon dominated areas of Balochistan.
Zamarak Achakzai rejected claims of Asghar Tareen and said a number of development projects were currently underway in various parts of the province. “You are concerned about Pishin, we are trying to develop Balochistan”, Mr. Achakzai who holds the portfolio of agriculture responded.
The chair also referred the privilege motion tabled by the Balochistan Food Minister, Sardar Abdul Rehman Khetran to the committee.
