Contract of female teachers to be extended for a year: Sardar Rind

QUETTA: Balochistan education minister, Sardar Yar Muhammad Rind Thursday announced one year’s extension in the contract of female teachers. Female teachers have been protesting for permanent orders for the last few months. However, the protesting teachers rejected the decision of the government. “We want permanent orders rather than one year contract”, Farana Khalid, a female teacher from Khuzdar told Quetta Voice.
“We will make a decision about permanent orders of teachers within next two months”, he told a news conference at the Chief Minister’s Secretariat. Provincial ministers Zahoor Buledi and Sardar Abdul Rehman Khetran were also present on the occasion.
“We will try to ensure permanent orders of the female teachers”, the Education Minister assured.
CM Jam Kamal took to Twitter
Chief Minister Balochistan, Jam Kamal Khan also took to social media networking Twitter and announced the extension of female teachers. He said the government would form a committee to see the legal mechanisms for permanent orders of female teachers.
1,500 teaches recruited by GPE
Around 1,500 teachers most of them female recruited under the Global Partnership for Education (GPE) program in Balochistan in 2015. The Balochistan government had made 1,000 girls schools across the province after the appointment of female teachers.
The government had agreed to pay salaries to teachers
The government had agreed with GPE that it would pay the salaries of the employees after the expiry of the project in Balochistan. However, the provincial government has recently turned down the request of teachers for payment of salaries.
Balochistan education minister, Sardar Yar Muhammad Rind had visited the camp of protesting female teachers and assured them permanent orders almost a month ago. The protesting female teachers staged a protest demonstration outside Balochistan Assembly to press the authorities to issue them permanent orders the other day.
