Unique protest by an opposition legislator in Balochistan Assembly

An opposition legislator in Balochistan Assembly staged a unique protest inside the house in support of protesting government employees in Quetta. Zahid Reki, an opposition leader in Balochistan Assembly took off his kameez in the support of protesting employees.
Fellow legislators rushed towards the protesting legislator and stopped him from taking off his kameez. “This government is blind, it must quickly address the grievances of employees”, Mr. Reki lamented during the assembly session.
Assembly session resumes on Wednesday
The session of the Balochistan Assembly resumed here with Qadir Nail in the chair. The legislators discussed issues relating to Balochistan including power outages and the protest of government employees.
Government employees have blocked all-important roads leading towards the Red Zone. The Zone houses Governor’s house and Chief Minister’s Secretariat. Blockade of roads caused worst traffic jams in the city.
“Where is the tradition of this province”, Mr. Reki asked while taking off his clothes. Mr. Reki elected as a member of the provincial assembly from Washuk Balochistan. He belongs to the mainstream opposition party i.e. Jamiat ul Ulema e Islam (F).
Balochistan government forms committee to address issues of employeesÂ
The Balochistan government has formed a committee to address the issues relating to government employees. The employees have been demanding a 25 percent increase in the salaries. The demand turned down by the Chief Minister Jam Kamal Khan-led government.
Zahoor Buledi, the Finance Minister Balochistan chaired a meeting of the committee that thoroughly discussed the salary issue of government employees.
Security tightened
The government has placed police on a high alert to maintain the law and order situation in the city. The administration has put containers, barbed wires to stop the protesters from the protest outside the CM and Governor’s houses.
