Govt committed to eradicate poliovirus: CS Balochistan

Chief Secretary Balochistan, Mathar Niaz Rana on Wednesday said the government has determined to eradicate the poliovirus from the country. The CS chaired a meeting of the provincial task-force about the poliovirus in Balochistan.

Special Secretary Health, Ghulam Farooq Marri, divisional commissioners, coordinator emergency operation cell, Rashid Razzaq, and other high ups participated in the meeting.

“Religious scholars play a key role in creating awareness among the people”, Mr. Rana mentioned.

“Religious scholars play a key role in creating awareness among the people”, Mr. Rana mentioned. He urged the masses to ensure the provision of anti-polio drops to their children below the age of five years.

“Polio workers should also reach all kids”, the CS Balochistan directed in the meeting. The CS directed all deputy commissioners to personally monitor the polio campaign in their respective districts. The campaign would be launched after a couple of days in all districts of Balochistan.

Balochistan reported one case this year

Balochistan has so far reported one polio case during the current year. The case reported from Balochistan’s Killa Abdullah district. However, last year, Balochistan had reported 26 cases of the crippling virus.

Quetta, Pishin and Killa Abdullah districts prone to the crippling virus 

In Balochistan’s Quetta, Killa Abdullah, and Pishin districts, thousands of parents have been refusing polio drops to their children. The three districts declared as the most sensitive districts in terms of the crippling virus.
