No plan to make Southern Balochistan a province: Liaquat Shahwani

Spokesman government of Balochistan, Liaquat Shahwani has dispelled the impression by what he called a nationalist party about making Southern Balochistan a separate province. “Government has no plan to make Southern Balochistan a province”, Mr. Shahwani told a news conference in Quetta on Thursday.

He informed the government was spending Rs. 600 billion to develop Southern Balochistan and bring it at par with other developed parts of the country. “Making a new province is not an easy job”, he noted.

BNP (M) and NP term Southern Balochistan a conspiracy 

Balochistan nationalist political parties including the Balochistan National Party (Mengal) and National Party (NP) have expressed serious concern over the term Southern Balochistan and called it a conspiracy to divide the province.

Answering a question regarding the third wave of COVID19, he said the government may consider the closure of schools if cases continue to rise in educational institutions. He however urged the people to adopt social distancing and take all precautionary measures to battle the deadly virus.

SBK women university to remain closed till April 30th

Sardar Bahadur Khan (SBK) women’s university and four schools in Quetta closed after reports of fresh coronavirus cases. The university will remain closed till April 30th.

Regarding ‘sasta bazaar’, he assured that the government would make all-out efforts to make it functional within the next couple of days. “We want to support people during the sacred month of Ramazan ul Mubarak”, he said.
