BAP to hold intra-party elections soon: Jam Kamal

Staff Reporter :

Chief Minister Balochistan, Jam Kamal Khan has said the ruling Balochistan Awami Party (BAP) would soon hold intra-party elections to elect a new president. Jam Kamal has been leading the ruling party for the last three years since its establishment in May 2018.

The CM took to Twitter and announced intra-party elections. He however did not mention a specific date and time for holding the intra-party elections. He said, “the new president shall bring more stature, significance, and brilliance to the party”.

ECP had asked BAP president to hold intra-party elections

CM’s statement has come after the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) asked the BAP president to hold elections after the completion of three years as a constitutional requirement.

Cracks also appeared within the ruling party as the Local Bodies portfolio withdrawn from the BAP lawmaker Sardar Saleh Bhootani. Mr. Bhootani held a meeting with the speaker Balochistan Assembly, Qudoos Bizenjo, and finance minister, Mir Zahoor Buledi to evolve a future strategy.

CM reportedly wrote a letter to Speaker Balochistan Assembly

The CM has also written a letter to Speaker Qudoos Bizenjo questioning his impartiality. In a letter leaked and under discussion on social media, the CM has put some questions before the custodian of the house regarding granting more time to the opposition than treasury members in the house.

Quetta Voice officially verified the letter circulating on social media.
