Balochistan schools: Vacations from 1st June to 31 July announced for summer zone

Education Desk:

Balochistan’s education department has announced vacations from 1st June to July 31 for schools located in the summer zone of the province. “Long term summer vacations” would be observed in all government-run schools located in the summer zone of Balochistan, Sher Khan Bazai, the secretary of education told Quetta Voice.

Mr Bazai, however, informed that the department has cancelled the summer vacations for the winter zone of Balochistan to minimize the learning losses that occurred due to the COVID19.

The education department issues a notification

The education department also issued a notification in this regard on Thursday. As per the notification, the department has directed the concerned officers to ensure the implementation of the government orders.

Most of the schools have no basic facilities

In Balochistan, over 3,200 government-run primary, middle and high schools are not functional for the last many years. Similarly, the number of one-teacher one-room schools across Balochistan was over 5,000. The main reason behind this was a persistent delay in the appointment of teachers.

However, the present government has issued appointment orders to more than 9,000 teachers across Balochistan. “With fresh recruitment, we would make such schools functional”, Sher Khan Bazai mentioned.
