At least 23 killed dozens injured in a bus accident near Khuzdar

At least 23 pilgrims died and dozens injured in a bus accident in Balochistan’s Khuzdar district on Friday morning. The bus was carrying pilgrims from Balochistan to Sindh province when it turned turtle in Karakh tehsil of Khuzdar district.

“The bus turned turtle because of over-speeding”, Major (R) Bashir Ahmed Bareech, Deputy Commissioner Khuzdar said. The bus jam-packed with pilgrims and some of them were also on the roof of the bus at the time of the incident.

Rescue workers shift injured to hospitals 

Mr. Bareech confirmed the death of 23 pilgrims as a result of the accident. However, the accident left dozens injured. Rescue workers reached the spot and shifted the injured to Khuzdar teaching hospital and combined military hospital for medical treatment. Emergency imposed in the hospital to provide medical treatment to the injured, Dr. Somar Khan Baloch told Quetta Voice.

“Most of the injured had suffered head injuries”, Dr. Baloch informed. However, the DC Khuzdar informed that the victims belonged to Dadu district of Balochistan and returning to Sindh after their participation in the Urs of Abdul Qadir Naqshbandi.

Traffic accidents order of the day

Traffic accidents are almost the order of the day on the Quetta-Karachi route. Traffic accidents have claimed scores of precious human lives in various parts of Balochistan. Poor, narrow road conditions, over-speeding, and reckless driving are the main causes behind the increasing number of road accidents in Balochistan. The provincial government is yet to ensure traffic rules in the province that covers half of the country in terms of area.
