Government ignored our constituencies: Balochistan opposition

QUETTA: Opposition lawmakers in Balochistan Assembly have accused the provincial government of ignoring their constituencies in terms of development projects. “Government totally ignored our constituencies”, the opposition leader in Balochistan Assembly, Malik Sikandar advocate told a news conference. The opposition lawmakers threatened to launch a protest movement if the government failed to address their grievances. “We will launch the movement from Monday”, the opposition leader announced.
Former Chief Minister, Nawab Muhammad Aslam Raisani, parliamentary leader Balochistan National Party (Mengal), Malik Naseer Shahwani, Nasrullah Khan Zarai of Pashtoonkhwa Milli Awami Party (PKMAP), and other legislators also spoke on the occasion. “We will raise a voice against injustices at all forums”, Nawab Raisani said. He said the government has ignored the constituencies of all opposition members.

“We are representing half of Balochistan but the government ignored our constituencies”, Malik Naseer Shahwani said. He said the present government has launched development projects through non-elected people bypassing the elected representatives.
The opposition lawmakers lamented that the provincial government has failed to address the issues faced by the masses. “The Chief Minister, Jam Kamal Khan himself has admitted lapsing of Rs. 40 bs”, Nasrullah Zarai of the PKMAP said.
The opposition members claimed that the Public Sector Development Program (PSDP) confined to government constituencies. This is a violation of the constitution, they stated.

“Masses are facing so many issues”, Malik Sikandar Advocate said. He said masses were facing the issue of power load shedding and gas load shedding. “Power outages caused billions of rupees losses to growers”, he said.
The opposition legislators complained that the government has given cold-shoulder to 23 opposition lawmakers in terms of development projects. “People are coming to us for their issues, but we are helpless”, Malik Shahwani said.
The Balochistan government has decided to present the provincial budget on June 18. For this purpose, the government has made all arrangements. The treasury members have however rejected the assertions of opposition legislators in this regard.
