Four FC soldiers martyred 20 injured in Balochistan suicide bombing

At least four Frontier Corps (FC) soldiers were martyred and 20 injured in a suicide attack in the Sona Khan police check post area. “Suicide bomber rammed his explosive-laden motorcycle in an FC vehicle”, Azhar Akram, the Deputy Inspector General of Police Quetta told Quetta Voice.

Among the injured 18 are FC soldiers and 2 are civilians. Rescue workers and police were quick at the spot and shifted the injured to the hospital for medical treatment in Quetta. Emergency imposed in the hospital to provide medical treatment to injured of the blast.

“We are investigating into the incident”, Mr. Akram said. Police and FC personnel reached the spot as an investigation into the incident went underway.

Evidence collected from the spot

“Body parts of the suicide bomber also collected from the spot”, the Spokesman Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) said in a statement. Security forces sealed the area and stopped the entry of the people to probe into the incident. The loud sound of the blast was heard far and wide causing panic in the area.

This incident has come two weeks after three levies personnel were martyred in a landmine explosion in Balochistan’s Ziarat district. Landmine hit levies vehicle in Mangi Dam area of district Ziarat.

PM condemns the incident 

Prime Minister Imran Khan took to Twitter and expressed grief and sorrow over the incident and expressed condolence with the broken family members.

Chief Minister Balochistan, Jam Kamal Khan strongly condemned the incident and termed it an attempt on the part of terrorists to sabotage the peace of the province. “We will not bow down before the terrorists”, CM Balochistan said.

Home Minister Balochistan, Mir Ziaullah Langove strongly condemned the terrorist attack. In a statement issued after the blast, the Minister said the perpetrators of the terror act would be brought to justice. He also directed the police to submit a report in this regard.

Speaker Balochistan Assembly, Abdul Qudoos Bizenjo has also strongly condemned the incident and expressed grief and sorrows over human losses.

Sona Khan Check Post 

Sona Khan Check Post is located at Quetta-Mastung road. In the past, militants have repeatedly targeted security forces and police in the area. This is one of the sensitive areas in the Southern outskirts of Quetta, the capital of Balochistan province.

Quetta and other parts of Balochistan are under the grip of violence for the last two decades. Terror acts have claimed scores of precious human lives. A blast targeted Quetta’s Serena Hotel on April 21st this year.
