Security forces kill key IS commander in Mastung Balochistan

Security forces killed a key Islamic State (IS) commander during an operation in Balochistan’s Mastung district. The IS commander identified as Mumtaz Ahmed alias Pahlawan in Kanak Killi Mehrab Mastung was killed in an operation, a Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) officer said.
The Balochistan government had kept Rs. 2 million on his head. For this purpose, the government had also published an advertisement in local newspapers. “The operation conducted in grapes orchard in Killi Mehrab”, the officer informed.
Personnel of secret services, CTD, and Frontier Corps also participated in the operation in the outskirts of Mastung Balochistan. The accused was considered to be one of the high-ranking IS commanders in the province.
Security forces conducted the raid on a tip-off and successfully eliminated him, the CTD officer mentioned. The accused was also involved in a deadly suicide bombing that claimed the lives of 130 people including Nawabzada Siraj Raisani, the younger brother of former Chief Minister, Nawab Aslam Raisani, he revealed.
This operation has come a day after four FC soldiers were martyred in a blast in Balochistan’s Harnai district on Saturday. An outlawed Baloch militant organization had claimed the responsibility for the attack. Two FC soldiers also sustained injuries in the terrorist attack.
