QUETTA: Chief Minister Balochistan, Jam Kamal Khan has ordered an immediate repair of the angiography machine at civil hospital Quetta. The CM took notice of a news item published in the daily Quetta Voice on Monday.
The angiography machine in Balochistan’s oldest civil hospital was out of order for the last three months. This daily had repeatedly reported about the issue. However, no action was taken earlier.
Sources in the CM Secretariat said funds for the repair of the machine would be released within the next couple of days. A summary has already been approved in this regard, they said.
Young Doctors Association (YDA) Balochistan has also demanded an immediate repair of the angiography machine. “This is one of our demands”, Dr. Rahim Babar, the central leader of YDA said.
Patients spending Rs. 28,000 on a per angiography test
Patients were forced to pay Rs. 28,000 in private clinics and hospitals for a per angiography test. “This is an injustice with patients”, Jamal Shah Kakar, an office-bearer of paramedical federation lamented.
“This machine becomes out of order every two months”, a senior doctor told Quetta Voice. He requested anonymity. He claimed that some staff members and senior doctors were trying to deliberately put the machine out of order to attract patients to their own private hospitals.
